WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team used a balanced offensive attack as it defeated Wooster 4-0 on Tuesday evening.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-1-1 overall with the victory, while the Scots fall to 3-3-2.
Four Polar Bears scored for ONU to lead te offensive attack as sophomores Haley Moses (Mason) and Rose Nienaber (Cincinnatti/Oak Hills) and freshmen Jenna Fuller (Countryside, Ill./.Lyons Township) and Megan Breier (Plainfield, Ill./North) all found the back of the net.
Freshman Abigail Mathews (Liberty Township/Lakota East) added an assist for Northern.
Northern has now won five of its last six contests and has posted shutouts in its last five contests.
ONU has not allowed a goal in the last 528:36 minutes.
The Polar Bears opened the scoring barrage in the 14th minute as Moses found the back of the net to give ONU an early 1-0 lead.
In the 32nd minute, Fuller would add to the lead to give ONU a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
Nienaber would extend the lead in the 61st minute as she dribbled into the center of the field and scored from 20 yards out to push the lead to 3-0.
The Polar Bears would seal the victory in the 66th minute as Mathews played a ball over the top of the WC defense and found Breier to add an insurance goal and complete the 4-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg) posted her fifth consecutive shutout in the victory and improved her record to 5-1-1 on the year.
The Polar Bears outshot the Scots by a 13-2 margin and won the corner kick battle 5-1.
Northern returns to action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Thomas More (Ky.) to take on the Saints at 1 pm.
