ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 4-0 in its season opener on Friday evening at Albion (Mich.).
The Polar Bears drop to 0-1-0 overall, while the Britons move to 1-0-0.
Senior midfielder Mary Kate Munz (Gahanna/Lincoln) and freshman defender Sydney Leshnak (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame) led the way offensively for ONU as each recorded three shots, while senior Abbey Oswald (Lambertville, Mich./Bedford) and junior Sarah Puntel (Strongsville) posted two shots each.
Northern found itself in an early hole as back-to-back goals in the 25th and 28th minutes gave AC an early 2-0 lead.
A goal just before the half would push the lead to 3-0 at the intermission.
Albion added an insurance goal in the 64th minute to seal the victory.
Sophomore Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg) led ONU in the goal with two saves.
Northern outshot Albion 16-11 and edged the Britons by a margin of 3-2 in the corner kick battle.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they travel to Adrian (Mich.) to take on the Bulldogs at 1 pm.
