ADA -- Senior Shelby Stephens (Cypress, Tex./Cyrpress Woods) and junior Anna Niemeyer (Loveland/Loveland) each scored to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team as it defeated Baldwin Wallace 2-1 Wednesday evening.
The Polar Bears improve to 13-3-0 overall and 7-1-0 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 10-8-1, 4-4-0.
Stephens got Northern on the board early on in the contest as she took a pass from freshman Haley Moses (Mason/William Mason) and found the back of the net in the fourth minute to give Northern an early 1-0 lead.
The Polar Bears were able to strike again in the 13th minute as senior Missy Ward played a ball to Neimeyer, and Neimeyer was able to finish the play to push the lead to 2-0.
The Yellow Jackets would get one back in the 62nd minute, but the Northern defense proved to be too much as Northern went on to win 2-1.
Freshman Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg/Miamisburg) earned the victory in the net for ONU, posting three saves on the evening and improving to 13-3-0 on the year.
BW edged ONU in the shot battle by a 15-13 margin, while the teams tied 3-3 in corner kicks.
The Polar Bears return to action Saturday afternoon and look to wrap up the No. 1 seed in next week's OAC Tournament as they welcome Marietta to Kerscher Stadium and celebrate Senior Day at 1 pm.
