ADA -- The No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team dropped its first contest of the season as it fell 2-0 to No. 5-ranked Thomas More (Ky.) Friday evening at Kerscher Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 6-1-0 overall, while the Saints improve to 7-0-1.
After an early defensive battle, the Saints were able to find the back of the net first to take a 1-0 lead in the first half.
Freshman Rose Nienaber (Cincinnatti/Oak Hills) would narrowly miss the equalizer in the 24th minute as she hit the cross bar.
Northern would come out and threaten multiple times in the second half, but was unable to capitalize on their attempts.
The Saints would seal the 2-0 victory in the 67th minute after capitalizing on a corner kick.
Freshman Meagan Grierson (Miamisburg/Miamisburg) recorded four saves to lead the Polar Bears defensively.
TMC outshot ONU by a 9-5 margin, while the two teams each had two corner kicks.
Northern will return to action Tuesday at 7 pm as they host No. 25-ranked Wittenberg at Kerscher Stadium.
