ADA – The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell to Otterbein 3-2 in a thrilling overtime game Wednesday night at Kerscher Stadium.
Ohio Northern falls to 6-6-1 overall and 2-2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play while Otterbein improves its record to 7-2-4, 3-0-1.
Otterbein found the net first as Jillian Strimbu beat keeper to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Cardinals in the 19th minute of play.
ONU would find an answer as sophomore Rachel Weigman gathered a blocked shot and beat the goalie to even the score at 1-1 in the 38th minute.
Otterbein regained the lead in the 56th after a header from a corner kick found its way into the net.
In the 88th minute junior Alex Weirich scored the equalizer to force overtime after taking a pass from sophomore Haley Napier and making the score 2-2.
Otterbein would win the game on a header in the 93rd minute.
The Polar Bears outshot the Cardinals 13-10 on the night.
Ohio Northern will return to action October 18th as they travel to Capital for an 11 am start at Bernlohr Stadium.
