WILMINGTON -- The Ohio Northern women's soccer team defeated Wilmington College 3-0 Wednesday night at Williams Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-5-1 on the year and 1-1-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play. The Quakers fall to 6-6-0, 0-2-0.
Sophomore Shelby Stephens had two goals on the night to lead the Polar Bears.
Northern got on the board early as Stephens took a pass from sophomore Michaela Guttierez and beat the keeper to make it 1-0 in the 8th minute.
Stephens again found the back of the net in the 18th minute of play after taking a pass from freshman Anna Niemeyer to make the score 2-0.
Niemeyer added a goal in the 81st minute off of assists from sophomore Rachel Weigman and senior Kristina Klusek to make the score 3-0 in favor of the Polar Bears.
Ohio Northern played a great defensive game, only allowing Wilmington to get off six shots on the night. Northern finished with 12 shots on the night.
Junior Emily Brodict earned the win for the Polar Bears and improved her record to 5-5-1 on the year. Brodict recorded one save on the night.
Ohio Northern will return to action Saturday, October 11 as they play host to Mount Union at 1 pm.
