ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team fell 1-0 to John Carroll in the Ohio Athletic Conference opener for both teams at Kerscher Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears fall to 4-5-1 Overall, 0-1-0 OAC on the season, while the Blue Streaks improve to 7-2-1 Overall, 1-0-0 OAC.
Ohio Northern was held to just 13 total shots in the match, while John Carroll fired off 26.
ONU had an opprotunity to take the early lead when sophomore Shleby Stephens played a ball off the far post inside the 18 but was unable to capitalize.
The Polar Bears and Blue Streaks entered the half tied at 0-0. John Carroll outshot ONU 9-8 in the first half.
John Carroll was able to capitalize in the 81st minute as Chrissy Garcia put one just out of the reach of junior goalkeeper Emily Brodict.
Brodict recorded 9 saves in the game.
The Polar Bears are next in action on Tuesday as they travel to Wilmington to take on the Quakers at 7 pm.
