GREENCASTLE, Ind. - The Ohio Northern women's soccer team defeated host DePauw (Ind.) 1-0 Saturday night in the final game of the DePauw Classic.
The Polar Bears won the tournament title with a 2-0-0 record, while DePauw falls to 0-2-0.
The lone goal in the match came in the 23rd minute when Ohio Northern sophomore Shelby Stephens captialized off an assist from freshman Anna Niemeyer to score her first goal of her career.
ONU was in control for most of the match, posting 18 shots on goal while holding DePauw to just two.
Junior Alex Weirich posted four shots on goal in the match and junior goalkeeper Emily Brodict recorded one save to earn the win and improve to 2-0-0 on the year..
The Polar Bears will be in action next on Sunday, Sept. 7th, as they travel to NCAA Divisioion I foe Xavier for a 4 pm kickoff.
