Women's Soccer opens 2014 campaign with 1-0 win over No. 20 Illinois Wesleyan at DePauw (Ind.) Classic

GREENCASTLE, Ind. —The Ohio Northern women's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over No. 20-ranked Illinois Wesleyan in the DePauw (Ind.) Classic Saturday night at Boswell Field.
The Polars Bears improve their record to 1-0-0 overall, while the Titans fall to 0-1-0 overall.
Northern extends its undefeated streak in season openers to nine, going 7-0-2 since 2005.
ONU's lone goal came from a strike by sophomore Missy Ward on a pass from senior Kristina Klusek in the 16th minute.
The Polar Bear defense made the score stand as junior Emily Brodict finished the night with six saves in goal.
The Titans outshot the Polar Bears 14-3, but Northern was able to take advantage of their two shots on goal.
Ohio Northern will be back in action Saturday night at 6:30 pm(EDT) as they take on host DePauw for the tournament title.
