Abby Vargo named Defender of the Year; Seven named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in Women's Soccer

ADA -- Senior Abby Vargo was named OAC Defender of the Year and seven were named All-OAC in women's soccer as voted by the league's ten head coaches.
Senior Sami Atkinson, senior Abbie Schauble, junior Kristina Klusek and Vargo all earned First Team All-OAC honors.
Senior Lauren Brown was named Second Team All-OAC and senior Sandra Thorarensen and sophomore Alex Hazelet were named Honorable Mention All-OAC.
Vargo is the fourth Polar Bear to win Defensive Player of the Year honors.
This is her second All-OAC selection, after being named Second Team All-OAC last season.
She score her first career goal and also had an assist and was the anchor of the ONU defense this season.
Atkinson earns her fourth All-OAC selection and third First Team honor.
This season, she scored five goals and led the team with five assists.
Schauble scored two goals and recorded three assists this season.
This is her third All-OAC honor and she ends her career with 12 goals and 14 assists.
Klusek earns her second straight First Team All-OAC selection and third All-OAC honor.
She was second on the team with seven goals and four assists on the season.
Brown earns her first All-OAC accolade.
This season, she scored two goals and had four assists and finishes her career tied for ninth in career assists with 18.
Thorarensen also earns her first All-OAC honor.
She led the team with eight goals and recorded a hat trick Sept. 14 at Ohio Wesleyan.
Hazelet earns her first All-OAC honor of her career.
She started in all 21 games on defense this season.
Ohio Northern posted a 10-9-2 record and finished tied for third in the OAC with a 6-3-0 mark.
