ALLIANCE — Sophomore Sami Atkinson scored twice to lead the No. 25 Women's Soccer team to a 4-1 conference win at Mount Union, Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Northern's unbeaten streak is extended to seven games and currently holds a 7-1-2 (2-0 OAC) record. The Purple Raiders fall to 5-4-2 and 0-2 in the league.
ONU scored all of its goals in the first half, starting in the seventh minute when Atkinson took a pass from senior Alyssa Merrick and knocked it in for a goal.
Merrick again found Atkinson in the box for a goal in the 17th minute to increase Northern's lead to 2-0. Freshman Kristina Klusek also got in on scoring with an unassisted goal in the 24th minute.
Fellow freshman Sandra Thorarensen scored the Polar Bears' final goal of the game unassisted in the 40th minute.
Mount Union got on the board in the 57th minute when Ashley Sams buried a free kick in the upper right hand corner.
ONU outshot the Purple Raiders 18-2. Northern continues to outshoot opponents so far this season, 181-84.
The Polar Bears return to action Tuesday, hosting Manchester (Ind.) in a non-conference contest at 4 p.m.
