RICHMOND, Ind. — Sophomore Sandy Plunkett scored in the 100th minute to lead the Ohio Northern women's soccer team to a 1-0 thrilling overtime victory Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Polar Bears record now stands at 2-0-0 on the year, while the Quakers fall to 1-1-0.
Plunkett took a pass from fellow sophomore Sami Atkinson and put it in the net to give the Polar Bears the win.
The assist was Atkinson's second on the season.
Junior goalie Erin Waehner notched her first shutout of the season and her second victory.
Northern's defense was dominant allowing the Quakers to fire only two shots. The Polar Bears took 14 shots on the day.
Ohio Northern will be in action again next weekend when they travel to New Jersey for the Stevens Engineering Cup. The Polar Bears begin play on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they face NYU.
