No. 20 Wrestling gets three consecutive pins, posts 35-7 victory at Heidelberg

TIFFIN — The No. 20-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team got back-to-back-to-back falls from 141-157 to jump to a 28-0 lead en route to a 35-7 victory at Heidelberg in an Ohio Athletic Conference dual meet on Tuesday night at Sieberling Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears remain undefeated on the season with a 10-0 overall record and improved to 2-0 in OAC dual meet action.
The Student Princes fall to 0-2, 0-2.
No. 2-ranked sophomore Jacob Reed (Lancaster) and No. 10-ranked senior Chase Sumner (Ada) each had first period falls and sophomore Jayden Jones (Ashland) recorded a third period pin to give ONU a commaning 25-0 lead.
Reed had a first period fall in 1:42 at 141 and Sumner followed with fall in a quick 23 seconds at 149 pounds. Jones made it three consecutive pins with a win in 5:13 at 157 to make it 25-0.
No. 14-ranked senior Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) won by decision 7-4 at 165 to clinch the match for ONU at 28-0.
Sophomore Colin Mellott (Wapakoneta) started the dual with a 13-0 major decision at 125. Sophomore Dylan Le (Powell/Dublin Scioto) followed with an 8-5 decision at 133 and it was 7-0 Polar Bears.
Sophomore Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) and senior Logan Painter (Marysville/Early College) wrapped up the match with decisions at 184 and Heavyweight, respectively.
Northern won the first six bouts and eight of the 10 overall on the night.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday when they host the 41st annual ONU Iniviational at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
