No. 15 Wrestling opens home, OAC slates with 60-0 sweep over Wilmington

ADA — The No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team opened the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its 2022-23 schedule with a perfect 60-0 victory over Wilmington on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
The Polar Bears (5-0 overall, 1-0 OAC) posted four first period falls and six forfeits in the win.
It was also the home opener for ONU.
Northern won the first five weight classes by forfeit to start with a 30-0 lead.
No. 12-ranked senior Jordan Hardrick (Dayton/Wayne) pinned Garrett Simmons in 1:53 to make it 36-0.
After a forfeit win at 174 extended ONU's lead to 42-0, sophomore Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.) won by fall in 2:11 at 184 and freshman Sean Gast (Ashland/Mapleton) won by fall in 1:19 at 197 and it was 54-0.
Junior Jadon Brownlee (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) wrapped up the match at heavyweight with a pin in 2:58.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday with four matches at the Olivet (Mich.) Duals.
