Wrestling wraps up OAC slate with 46-0 victory at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern wrestling team wrapped up the Ohio Athletic Conference portion of its schedule with a 46-0 victory at Muskingum on Tuesday at the Steele Center.
The Polar Bears end their dual meet schedule 14-8 overall and finish tied for fourth in the OAC with a 3-4 league record.
The Muskies fall to 2-7, 1-6.
Freshman Camden Spears (Plainfield, Ind.) opened the match with a 12-0 major decision at 125.
Seniors Seth Transue (Plain City/Jerome) and No. 20-ranked Jeff Andrews (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) won by forfeit at 133 and 141, respectively, to put ONU ahead 16-0.
No. 16-ranked freshman Chase Sumner (Ada) won by major decision 11-2 at 149 to make it 20-0.
Junior Schuyler Caprella (Harrod/Allen East) won by tech fall 20-0 1t 157 to give Northern a 25-0 advantage halfway through the match.
Sophomore Jordan Hardrick (Huber Heights/Wayne) clinched the match for ONU with a first period pin in 1:08 at 165, giving the Polar Bears a 31-0 lead.
Sophomore Connor Kwiat (Bloomville/Tiffin Calvert) won by tech fall 19-1 at 174.
Freshman Sam Medlen (Westfield, Ind.) got a 9-0 major decision at 184 for Northern's eighth consecutive win in the dual.
Freshman Ben DePrest (Louisville, Ky./Saint Xavier) made it 43-0 with a 5-2 decision at 197 pounds.
Freshman Logan Painter (Marysville/Early Colllege) wrapped up the dual with a solid 5-0 victory at heavyweight.
The Polar Bears will wrap up their regular season on Saturday at the Mid-States Invitational at Crawfordsville, Ind.
