Davidson, Keeley, Wagner lead Wrestling to 3rd place finish at 38th Annual ONU Invitational

ADA — Ohio Northern had three wrestlers reach the finals in their respective weight classes at the 38th annual ONU Invitational on Saturday at the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
The Polar Bears finished third of 13 teams with 115.5 points.
Washington & Lee (Va.) won the team title with 128 points, Heidelberg was second with 119 points and Tiffin was fourth with 111 points.
In all, nine Ohio Northern wrestlers placed in the top eight in their weight class.
Senior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland), sophomore Austin Keeley (Marysville, Mich.) and freshman Shaun Wagner (Southington, Conn.) each finished second in their respective weight classes.
Second-seeded Davidson went 3-1 with a tech fall at 174 pounds, fourth-seeded Keeley was 3-1 with a fall at heavyweight and Wagner was 3-1 with a fall at 149 pounds.
Three more Polar Bears placed third in the tournament.
Second-seeded junior Seth Transue (Plain City/Dublin Jerome) was 4-1 at 125 pounds, second-seeded junior Jeff Andrews (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay) was 5-1 at 149 pounds and fourth-seeded sophomore Schuyler Caprella (Harrod/Allen East) was 5-1 at 157 pounds.
Freshman Jordan Hardwick (Huber Heights/Wayne) placed sixth at 165 pounds with a 3-2 record and fifth-seeded senior Dylan Dolph (Canton/South) was seventh at 149 pounds with a 3-2 record.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday night when they host Manchester (Ind.) in a non-conference dual at 7:30 pm at the ONU Sports Center.
