Saturday's Tournament: The Ohio Northern wrestling program opens its 2018-19 campaign Saturday, November 10 as the Polar Bears travel to Alliance, Ohio to compete in the Mount Union Invitational ... The tournament is slated to begin at 10 a.m. inside Peterson Field House inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex ... Nine NCAA Division II and III schools, including three nationally-ranked programs, are scheduled to compete in the double-elimination individual tournament ... The Polar Bears return nine lettermen and five starters from the 2017-18 squad that finished 9-10 in dual meets, ended 3-3 in the OAC, and captured a sixth-place finish out of 18 teams at the NCAA Division III Central Regional at Wabash College ... ONU has posted 45 winning seasons in the program's storied 53-year history and claimed 13 Ohio Athletic Conference titles ... The Polar Bears were projected to finish third in this season's OAC Coaches Preseason Poll released October 19 ... "We are excited about the upcoming season," Beaschler said regarding the campaign ahead. "Our goal each season is to win the OAC title, and we feel that we have the talent to compete for that this year. Head Coach Ron Beaschler: Beaschler is in his 31st season at the helm of the Ohio Northern wrestling program and currently stands as the longest-tenured head wrestling coach at the institution ... He sports a 318-224-4 career coaching record in dual action, a winning percentage of .586, making him the all-time winningest coach in ONU program history ... Beaschler was inducted into the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Hall of Fame in 2008 and has been named OAC Coach of the Year three times in 1993, 2012, and 2013.
