Wrestling wraps up regular season with 21-14 loss at Heidelberg

ADA — The Ohio Northern wrestling team wrapped up its regular season with a 21-14 loss at Heidelberg on Tuesday evening at Seiberling Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears finish 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Student Princes end their season at 8-8, 4-2.
Heidelberg won the first four weight classes only to see ONU win the next three to pull within 12-10.
But a pin at 184 and a decision at 197 gave HU an insurmountable 21-10 lead.
Senior Gavin Nelson (Oregon/Clay) got ONU on the board with a 6-4 decision at 157 and senior Seth Meyer (Defiance) won by major decision 13-5 at 165 to make it 12-7.
Junior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) then won by decision 7-1 at 174 to get the Polar Bears within 12-10.
But HU got a pin at 184 and a 6-3 decision at 197 to go ahead 21-10 and ice the match.
Sophomore Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) wrapped up the dual with an 8-0 major decision at Heavyweight.
The Polar Bears will return to action Feb. 23-24 with the NCAA III Regional tournament at Wabash (Ind.)
