FINDLAY — Junior Clayton Davidson (Kirtland) and sophomore Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) each placed fourth to lead the Ohio Northern wrestling team at the non-scoring Findlay Open on Saturday at the Croy Gymnasium.
The open tournament featured 19 teams from NCAA Divisions I, II and III and NAIA schools. There were no team scores kept for the tournament.
Davidson (2-2 record) and Barcaskey (3-2 record) posted fourth place finishes in the 184 and 285 pound weight classes, respectively.
Sophomore Seth Transue (Plain City/Dublin) placed fifth at 125 pounds, and John Shirkey (Erlanger, Ky./LaSalle) placed sixth at 133 pounds
Transue had a tough first round loss, but battled back winning five straight to place fifth.
Shirkey followed suit in the 133 pound weight class. He too lost his first-round match, but battled back winning five straight matches. Shirkey had to forfeit his finals match because he wrestled the maximum amount of matches allowed in one day (six).
The Polar Bears will return to action on November 28th when they host their first OAC dual of the year against No. 9-ranked Baldwin Wallace at 7:30 pm.
