Nelson, Barcaskey, Meyer named All-OAC in Wrestling for 2016-17

ADA — Three Ohio Northern wrestlers were named All-Ohio Athletic Conference in wrestling for the 2016-17 season on voting conducted by the league's seven head coaches.
Sophomore Gavin Nelson (Oregon/Clay) and freshman Nate Barcaskey (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) were named First Team All-Conference and junior Seth Meyer (Defiance) was a Second Team All-OAC selection.
Nelson was 23-12 at 157 pounds on the season and posted a 5-1 record in the OAC regular season matches.
He placed 6th at the NCAA III Midwest Regionals last weekend.
In his two seasons as a Polar Bear, Nelson has a 44-26 record with 10 pins.
Barcaskey led Ohio Northern this season with a 30-8 record and 18 pins and was a perfect 6-0 in OAC duals.
He also placed 6th in his weight class at the NCAA Regionals.
Meyer was 16-17 overall at 165 pounds but had a solid 4-2 record in his OAC dual matches.
He will head into his season season next year with a 47-46 career record with four pins and six major decisions.
The Polar Bears finished the 2016-17 season with an 11-4 record and were third in the OAC with a 4-2 league mark under 29th-year head coach Ron Beaschler.
