Wrestling remains undefeated with 21-13 victory at NCAA Division I foe Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Ohio Northern rallied from a 9-3 deficit to post a 21-13 wrestling dual meet victory at NCAA Division I foe Davidson (N.C.) Sunday morning at Belk Arena.
The Polar Bears stay undefeated on the year with a 4-0 record, while the Wildcats fall to 3-2.
This is the fourth consecutive season that the two schools have met in a dual meet, with ONU holding a 3-1 lead in the series.
ONU won six of the 10 bouts in the match, including five of the last six to post the victory.
Northern got off to a quick start as freshman Brad Taton won 6-4 at 125 pounds to out ONU up 3-0. Taton is now 4-3 on the season.
After three consecutive Wildcat decisions made it 9-3, sophomore Gennar Feucht won by decision at 157 pounds to pull the Polar Bears within 9-6 and improve his record to 11-1 on the year.
Junior Colt Lovejoy tied the match at 9-9 with a 6-0 decision at 165 pounds to improve to 8-1 on the season.
Junior Tyler Gargano put the Polar Bears up 12-9 with a thrilling 3-2 win at 174 pounds. Gargano remaines undefeated at 5-0 on the year.
At 184 pounds, freshman Aaron Adkins used a takedown and a 3-point near fall late in the second period to take a 9-4 lead and went on to a 13-6 decisison. Adkins is now 9-1 on the season.
Leading 15-13 entering the final bout, senior All-American Cody Lovejoy picked up his eighth pin of the season to give the Polar Bears the 21-13 victory. Lovejoy now has a 9-0 record.
The Polar Bears will return to action Dec. 6 when they host the 34th annual ONU Invitational in the ONU Sports Center Fieldhouse.
