Ohio Northern junior Cody Lovejoy named First Team Capital One Academic All-American

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Cody Lovejoy was named First Team Capital One Academic All-America for 2013-14 in voting conducted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
This marks the second consecutive year that Lovejoy has won the award, earning Second Team accolades as a sophomore in 2012-13.
Lovejoy, a pharmacy major, was selected to the At-Large team in District 7 as a member of ONU's wrestling team. The At-Large team consists of student/athletes from swimming, wrestling, golf and tennis, among several others.
He was also named the 2014 NCAA Division III Wrestling Elite 89 Award winner this season. He is wrestling's first-ever repeat winner of the prestigious award, given annually to the student/athlete with the highest grade point average at each of the NCAA's 89 Championships events.
He also won the award as a sophomore in 2013.
Lovejoy had the highest GPA among the 180 wrestlers that competed at the 2014 NCAA III Wrestling Championships.
He also earned All-America, All-Mideast Region and was the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Year in the heavyweight division.
He finished his season with a 43-5 record and ranks 11th all-time at ONU with a 110-34 career record in his three seasons as a Polar Bear.
Under 26th-year head coach Ron Beaschler, the Polar Bears finished the season 9-9 overall and were 1-4 in OAC dual meet action.
