Women's Lacrosse falls at Mount Union 19-8 in regular season finale

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team wrapped up its regular season with a 19-8 loss at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (9-7 overall, 3-4 OAC), Mount Union (10-3 overall, 5-1 OAC).
- Venue: Kehres Stadium - Alliance, Ohio.
The Game
- The Purple Raiders broke open a close 5-4 contest with a 6-0 run in the second quarter to lead 11-4 at intermission.
- Sophomore Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) had three goals and an assist for four points to lead ONU.
- Hoersten scored 43 seconds into the third quarter to get ONU within 11-6, but Mount Union would score the next five goals to put the game away.
- Fifth-year senior Elizabeth Graham (Dayton/Carroll) and freshman Lydia Lehman (West Chester/Lakota West) each scored two goals to help the Polar Bears.
- Eden Kesler led UMU with five goals.
- UMU out-shot ONU 36-28.
Notables
- Ohio Northern clinched its fourth consecutive OAC Tournament appearance with the victory.
- The Polar Bears will be the No. 6 seed and will travel for a quarterfinal contest at No. 3 seed Otterbein on Saturday.
- ONU has also clinched a winning season and set a school record with nine victories this season.
- Northern also broke the school's single-season scoring record with 229 goals, edging the 228 set by the 2021 squad.
- Junior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) is first all-time in Ohio Northern history with 156 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 92 assists and is seventh with 64 career goals.
- Graham leads the team with 44 goals and sophomore Rylie Kocik (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) leads the team with 57 points on 38 goals and 19 assists.
- Burden has a school single-season record 35 assists to go with 53 points.
- Senior Chloe Millican (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) is ONU's all-time career wins leader with 20.
- Ohio Northern has now scored 10 or more goals in 14 of its 16 games this season.
- Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her first season at Ohio Northern and has a 9-7 record, a winning percentage of .563.
