Women's Lacrosse wraps up road swing with 14-6 victory at Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team got back to its winning ways on Wednesday night with a 14-6 victory at Wittenberg at Edwards-Mauer Field.
The Polar Bears snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 5-3, while the Tigers fall to 0-7.
Senior Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) scored four goals for her 12th career hat trick and junior Chloe Millican (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) had 12 saves on 18 shots in goal for Ohio Northern.
Freshman Rylie Kocik (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had her sixth hat trick of the season with three goals and freshman Elena Martin (Canfield) tied a career-high with three goals and had a career-best six ground balls for ONU.
After each team scored in the first 1:04 of play, Northern broke the game open with a 6-1 run over a span of nearly 29 minutes to lead 7-2 at intermission.
Wittenberg scored just 1:45 into the third quarter to make it 7-3, but ONU would rattle off the next six goals to lead 13-3 with 11:29 left in the game.
ONU out-shot WU 29-22 and forced the Bulldogs into 28 turnovers. Each team had 29 ground balls.
The Polar Bears will return home on Sunday to open Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 1 pm contest against Mount Union at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
