Women's Lacrosse falls at Mount Union in Quarterfinals of OAC Tournament

ALLIANCE — Junior Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.) and sophomore Avary Snyder (Uniontown/Lake) each scored twice to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 19-6 loss at Mount Union in the Quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Mount Union Stadium.
The sixth-seeded Polar Bears end their season with a 7-10 record, while the third-seeded Purple Raiders improve to 12-4 and will advance to the semifinals on Wednesday at second-seeded John Carroll.
Snyder and sophomore Noel Orioli (Westerville/North) scored goals just 36 second apart to give Ohio Northern a 2-1 lead just 5:15 into the contest.
MtU scored the next three goals to go up 4-2, but freshman Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) scored off an assist from sophomore Gabby Monastra (Wooster) to get ONU within 4-3 with 2:26 left in the first quarter.
The hosts scored the next five goals to extend their lead to 9-3 before Snyder scored at the 7:46 mark of the half.
The lead was 12-6 after a goal by Miller with 11:06 left in the third quarter, but the Purple Raiders would score the game's final seven goals to put the contest away.
Mount Union out-shot Ohio Northern 49-15 and won the ground ball battle 25-15.
