Snyder, Graham each net two goals as Women’s Lacrosse falls 14-9 at Trine (Ind.)

ANGOLA, Ind. — Sophomores Avary Snyder (Uniontown/Lake) and Elizabeth Graham (Riverside/Carroll) scored two goals each to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 14-9 loss to Trine (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon at Shive Field.
The Polar Bears fall to 2-3 overall, and the Thunder improve to 3-0.
Snyder and Graham also tallied one assist each en route to finishing with a team-high three points.
Juniors Amanda Wells (Mason/William Mason) and Meredith Miller (Noblesville, Ind.), sophomores Noel Orioli (Westerville/North) and Sydney Kilgore (Pleasant Plain/Little Miami) and freshman Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) also tallied goals for ONU in the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Molly Dixson (Cannonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) tallied nine saves for ONU.
Liv Ghent and Danielle Gargiulo scored four goals apiece to lead Trine.
Saturday's game was tightly contested throughout the first three quarters.
The Thunder closed the first quarter with goals from Emma Dougherty and Gargiulo over the final 55 seconds to take a 5-3 lead.
Graham scored her first goal of the game just over two minutes into the second quarter to bring the Polar Bears back within one, but Trine responded with a pair of goals for a 7-4 edge.
Goals from Burden and Graham once again brought Northern back within one with 4:30 left in the first half, but a score from Gargiulo less than a minute later put Trine up 8-6 going into halftime.
Trine scored the first goal of the second half before ONU answered with goals from Synder and Wells, cutting the deficit to 9-8 with 2:26 left in the third period.
The Thunder scored with 1:51 left in the third quarter and took a 10-8 lead into the fourth.
Trine opened the final period with four goals in just over five minutes of game time for a 14-8 lead.
Snyder closed the scoring with a goal with 29 seconds remaining in the game.
Trine out-shot ONU 26-21, and both teams tallied 18 ground balls.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday at Southwestern (Tex.).
