Betsy Naugle, Maddie Storr hat tricks propel Women's Lacrosse to 14-7 victory over Siena Heights (Mich.)

ADRIAN, Mich. - Junior attacks Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) and Maddie Storr (Clarence, N.Y.) each recorded hat tricks Saturday afternoon, leading the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse program to a 14-7 victory over NAIA foe Siena Heights (Mich.) at O'Laughlin Stadium in Adrian, Mich.
With the victory, the Polar Bears even their record at 3-3 overall this season. Meanwhile, the Saints drop to 1-5 in the 2019 campaign.
Naugle and Storr led the Northern offense with five and four goals, respectively, in the nonconference affair. The former generated a team-high ten shots and added a ground ball while the latter posted nine shots, one ground ball, and caused one turnover.
Additionally, junior midfielder Ann McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) chipped in a multiple-goal effort, netting two goals on six total shots. The Bay Village product also added four ground balls in Saturday's affair.
Defensively, sophomore midfielder Sabra Woodruff (Beavercreek) led the Polar Bears with two caused turnovers and a team-high five ground balls. She would also contribute on the offensive end, tallying one goal and an assist.
Junior Kelli Hill (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) and freshman Cameron Harbour (O'Fallon, Ill.) split time in goal Saturday, recording nine saves and four saves, respectively.
Jenna Sommerville led the Saints' scoring efforts, producing a three-goal hat trick with a team-high 12 shots.
The two schools exchanged blows early in the opening half, drawing even at 2-2 through seven minutes. From there, Naugle manufactured back-to-back goals in a 50-second span to give ONU a 4-2 edge.
A six-minute scoring drought ensued following Naugle's second strike, which was ended via a SHU goal at the 14:46 mark to make the lead just 4-3.
ONU then rattled off four consecutive goals over the final ten minutes of the half to take an 8-4 lead into the locker rooms.
Leading 9-4 in the second half, the Polar Bears put together another three-goal scoring streak to take an insurmountable 12-4 lead.
Ohio Northern held a 41-28 shooting advantage and a 26-16 edge in ground balls. In addition, the Polar Bears posted an impressive 22-for-23 mark in clear attempts and a four-for-ten performance in free position shots.
Northern will return to action on Thursday, March 21 at Cleary (Mich.). Game time is set for 7 p.m.
