Women's Lacrosse drops 19-9 decision at Wooster

WOOSTER — The Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team dropped a 19-9 decision at Wooster on Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup at Papp Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 6-7 overall, while the Scots improve to 8-3.
Sophomore Rachel Shipman (Noblesville, Ind.) led the Polar Bears offensively, recording her third hat trick of the season scoring a game-high five goals.
Sophomore Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) led the way with two assists, while Shipman added an assist.
Wooster took a 4-0 lead within the first four minutes of the contest before senior Chelsea Cousins (Lewis Center/Olentangy) scored from a Naugle assist and Shipman scored to pull the contest within 4-2.
After the Scots scored three straight goals to stretch the lead to 7-2, Shipman added her second goal of the evening to cut the lead to 7-3.
Down 13-3, freshman Sydney Skelding (Dublin, Calif.) found the back of the net to close the gap to 13-4.
The two teams would exchange goals throughout the second half before Shipman and sophomore Ann McArn (Bay VillageWestern Reserve Academy) scored back-to-back goals late in the second half to pull Northern with 18-9.
Wooster added one more goal as it sealed the 19-9 victory.
Senior Shannen Larsen Van Alstine (Neenah, Wis.) led the way defensively with a game-high five saves in the goal.
Northern returns to action on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. as they take on John Carroll on the road.
