Naugle, Shipman score four goals each as Women's Lacrosse defeats Wilmington 18-4

ADA — Sophomores Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) and Rachel Shipman (Noblesville, Ind.) each scored four goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to an 18-4 victory over Wilmington on Wednesday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 4-5 overall and are 1-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 2-8, 0-3.
Naugle now has five career hat tricks and Shipman has seven hat tricks in her career.
ONU broke the game wide open by scoring the final 10 goals of the first half, holding WC scoreless for the last 23:32 of the period, to lead 13-2 at intermission.
Naugle got her first three goals in the fist 9:15 of the game as ONU led 5-2.
Shipman scored twice in a 1:36 span to make it 7-2 and sophomore Elizabeth Carter (Lebanon) notched a pair of goals in a 1:24 span to make it 9-2.
Sophomore Ann McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) scored at the 12:59 mark and Carter completed her fourth career hat trick hat trick with a goal at the 8:50 mark of the opening half.
Freshman Sydney Skelding (Dublin, Calif.) got her second goal of the night 2:08 later and McArn notched her second goal with 4:03 left in the half.
Skelding completed her third career hat trick with a goal at the 15:05 mark of the second half.
Senior Chelsea Cousins (Lewis Center/Olentangy) and sophomore Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) also scored goals for ONU.
Senior Shannen Larsen Van Alstine (Neenah, Wis.) had five saves in goal and sophomore Kelli Hill (Worthington) had two saves in goal as the two goalies split time for ONU.
Ohio Northern out-shot Wilmington 38-15, won the ground ball battle 35-19 and were 13-of-15 in clearing attempts while holding WC to 5-of-26.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Saturday with a 1 pm game at Muskingum.
