Lohman, Naugle notch Hat Tricks as Women's Lacrosse falls to No. 8-ranked Siena Heights (Mich.) 12-9

ADA — Sophomores Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) and Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) each scored three goals to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team in a 12-9 loss to No. 8-ranked (NAIA) Siena Heights (Mich.) on Thursday evening at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears fall to 3-3 overall, while the Saints improve to 4-1.
Northern opened the game with three consecutive goals, holding Siena Heights scoreless for the first 17:10 and led 4-3 at intermission.
Lohman finished her hat trick with a goal just 31 seconds into the second half to give ONU a 5-3 lead.
But SHU would score five consecutive goals over a span of just 5:47, to go on top 8-5 with 20:31 left in the game.
The teams traded goals until Naugle scored back-to-back goals just 1:52 apart to close the gap to 10-9 with 5:12 left.
The Saints would close out the game with goals at the 4:41 and 1:43 marks of the game.
Marissa Cirino scored five goals on just seven shots to lead Siena Heights.
SHU out-shot ONU 36-30 and each team had 25 ground balls.
Sophomore Kelli Hill (Worthington) had 11 saves in goal to lead Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday with a 7 pm game at Albion (Mich.)
