McArn's hat trick leads Women's Lacrosse in 13-7 victory over NAIA-foe Cleary (Mich.)

ADA -- Sophomore Ann McArn (Bay Village/Western Reserve Academy) posted a hat trick to lead the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to a 13-7 victory over NAIA-foe Cleary (Mich.) on Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 1-4.
McArn had a team-best three goals and four draw controls and picked up a game-best six ground balls in the victory.
Sophomores Betsy Naugle (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), Rachel Shipman (Noblesville, Ind.), and Maggie Fuller (Naples, Fla.) all tallied two goals for Northern.
Northern jumped out to a 5-0 lead through the first 15 minutes of the contest following two goals from Fuller and goals from Naugle, McArn and freshman Sabra Woodruff (Beavercreek ).
After Cleary scored its first goal of the game, Naugle and sophomore Jacqui Lohman (Liberty Township/Lakota East) scored back-to-back goals to give ONU a 7-1 lead with 12:14 left in the first half.
The Cougars would score four of the next five goals to end the half and cut the ONU lead to 8-5 at the intermission.
Senior Chelsea Cousins (Lewis Center/Olentangy) scored just over 90 seconds into the second half to spark a 3-1 run as Cousins, Shipman and McArn scored to help ONU take an 11-6 lead.
After Cleary scored once more, Shipman and McArn sealed the contest, scoring the final two goals of the game to seal the 13-7 victory.
Senior Shannen Larsen Van Alstine (Neenah, Wis.) earned the victory in the goal, improving to 3-2 on the year, while recording six saves.
Northern returns to action on Thursday evening as it welcomes Siena Heights (Mich.) to Dial-Roberson Stadium for a 7 p.m. matchup.
