ADA -- Junior Kayla Reuss scored with 29 seconds left to lift the Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team to a thrilling 12-11 victory over NCAA Division II foe Ursuline Friday night at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
The Polar Bears (5-4 overall) run their winning streak to four games with the win.
The Arrows fall to 3-6.
Freshman Maddie Storr led the Polar Bears with five goals on the night.
Freshman Maggie Fuller had two goals and assisted Reuss on the game-winner to finish with three points.
Trailing 8-4 late in the first half, Northern rallied to tie the game at 10-all on a goal by freshman Alexandra Miller with 4:11 left to play.
Storr then scored with 2:11 to go to give the Polar Bears their first lead of the night at 11-10.
UC quickly answered when Hayley Mazreku scored the last of her team-high four goals with 1:28 left to tie the game at 11-11.
Storr won the ensuing draw control to give Northern the ball. The Polar Bears worked the ball around until Fuller found Reuss open in front of the net for the game-winner.
Ursuline out-shot ONU 38-22.
Sophomore Shannen Larsen Van Alstine came up big with 14 saves in goal for Ohio Northern.
The Polar Bears will return to action April 9 when they open Ohio Athletic Conference play with a 1 pm contest against Mount Union at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
