Freshman Grace Honigford leads No. 24 Women's Golf to second place finish at Capital Purple and White Invitational

GALENA — Freshman Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) carded an 8-over par 80 to lead the No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern women's golf team to a second place finish at the Capital Purple & White Invitational on Saturday at the Royal American Links.
The Polar Bears (11-2 overall) finished second of five teams with 346 strokes.
Honigford was fourth out of 37 golfers.
Senior Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Ladywood) tied for 12th with an 86 and senior Annika Neumann (Valley City/Avon) sophomore Torrie Smith (Russiaville, Ind./Western) and freshman Rylie Smith (Cambridge/Buckeye Trail) tied for 18th with 90s.
Playing as an individual, sophomore Bella Orofino (Powell/Olentangy Liberty) finished tied for second with a career-low 79.
Otterbein won the team title with a 324, Muskingum was third with a 352, Marietta was fourth with a 357 and Capital was fifth with a 384.
Otterbein's Emma McGreal won Medalist honors with a 5-over par 77.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Sunday at a second Capital Purple and White Invitational.
