Hipskind, Tomasula, Silva named All-American Scholars in Women's Golf for 2016-17 season

ADA — Three Ohio Northern student/athletes were named All-American Scholars for 2016-17 by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
Seniors Jennifer Hipskind (Fort Wayne, Ind./Dwenger) and Ariana Tomasula (Rocky River/Lutheran West) and sophomore Caitlin Silva (Hilliard/Bradley) all earned the honor.
All three ladies were also named Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference earlier this season.
Hipskind, a Pharmacy major, is now a two-time WGCA All-American Scholar and is also a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
The senior ranked sixth on the team, averaging 92.8 strokes per round.
Tomasula, an Accounting major, was named WGCA All-American Scholar for the second time in her career.
Tomasula is also a two-time Academic All-OAC.
The senior led the team this season with a 87.5 average.
She tied for 10th at the OAC Championships this season to earn All-Conference honors.
Silva, an Elementary Education major, earned the honor from the WGCA for the first time in her career.
The sophomore ranked second on the team with an 88.3 average.
Silva earned All-Conference honors after posting a 13th place finish at the OAC Championships.
The Polar Bears posted a third place finish at the OAC Championships and a 26-27 overall record under fourth-year head coach Chad Bucci.
