Freshman Courtney Knippen leads Women's Golf to third place finish at John Speiss Memorial Tournament

WAUSEON — Freshman Courtney Knippen carded an 89 to lead the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a third place finish at the John Speiss Memorial Tournament Tuesday at the Wauseon Golf Club.
The Polar Bears (5-10) finished third of six teams with a 375. Trine (Ind.) won the team title with a 343, Lourdes was second with a 360 and Northwestern Ohio was fourth with a 382.
Knippen finished seventh out of 31 golfers.
Sophomore Megan Conley was was 11th with a 91, sophomore Allison Fye tied for 15th with a 95, sophomore Kaitlyn Nestel tied for 19th with a 100 and freshman Rachel Stout was 31st with a 116.
Trine's Amy Worthington won Medalist honors with a 76.
The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 22-23 at the Heidelberg Fall Invitational.
