LOCKBOURNE -- The Ohio Northern women's golf team finished fifth out of eight teams at the 2012 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Saturday-Sunday at Firefox Players Club.

The Polar Bears finished their season with a 27-54 overall record.

ONU posted a 36-hole total of 407-391--798 over the par-72, 5832-yard course.

Baldwin-Wallace won the team title with a 345-348--693, Otterbein was second with a 358-345--703, Mount Union was third with a 359-350--709 and Capital was fifth with a 412-384--796.

ONU senior Emily Gedert finished 13th out of 35 golfers with a 90-91--181.

Freshman Megan Conley fired a career-low 88 in the final round to finish 15th with a 97-88--185, freshman Allison Fye was 22nd with a 103-100--203, freshman Kaitlyn Nestel was 32nd with a 128-112--240 and senior Kim McGowan tied for 33rd with a 117-124--241 for Ohio Northern.

Mary Snode of Mount Union won Medalist honors with an 83-81--164.

Gedert was also selected as a First Team All-OAC honoree in voting conducted by the league's eight head coaches.

She ends her career as a four-time All-Conference award winner and ranks third all-time with a 85.85 career average. Her 72.5 career rounds is the second-most in school history.

This season, Gedert led the Polar Bears with an 85.6 stroke average and has posted four of the school's top 11 single-season averages.
