CHESTERLAND — Senior Emily Gedert earned All-Tournament Team honors, leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team to a third place finish at the season-opening John Carroll Fall Invitational Sunday at Fowler's Mill Golf Course.
The Polar Bears (2-2 overall) finished with a 9-hole total of 197.
The tournament was shortened to nine holes after torrential rain made the course unplayable in the middle of the back nine. As a majority of the field had made the turn, only each golfer's front nine score counted.
Gedert finished t2 out of the 28 golfers that played at least nine holes with a 6-over par 42.
Mount Union won the match with a 169, John Carroll was second with a 186, Heidelberg was fourth with a 213 and Notre Dame (Ohio) was fifth with a 259.
MtU's Mary Snode won Medalist honors with a 38.
Freshman Megan Conley was tied for sixth with a 46, freshman Allison Fye was 13th with a 53 and freshman Kaitlyn Nestel was 18th with a 56.
The Polar Bears will return to action Sept. 24-25 at the Heidelberg Fall Invitational.
