Brynn Serbin scores 22 points to lead Women's Basketball in 72-43 win over Mount Union

ADA — Fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) scored 22 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 72-43 victory over Mount Union on Saturday afternoon.

- Serbin also put up four rebounds and led the team in steals with four.
- Junior Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) followed with 14 points and led with six rebounds.
- Juniors Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hi/Lahainaluna) and Layla Dials (Willard) put up five rebounds apiece.
- Junior Jada Benjamin (Parma/Valley Forge) tallied eight points and four rebounds, off the bench.
- Sophomore Mackenzie Suprano (Cutler/Waterford) tallied six points and three rebounds, off the bench.
- Elizabeth Mason led the Purple Raiders with nine points.
- The Polar Bears blew the game open with a 19-2 run to close out the first half, turning a 18-16 lead into a 37-18 halftime advantage.
- Serbin capped the flurry with a desparation 3-pointer just head of the horn as she had 11 points in the first 20 minutes of the contest.
- The lead grew to as many as 70-32 before UMU ended the game on an 11-2 run as both teams emptied the benches.
- Ohio Northern made 26-of-68 field goals for 38.2% and was 11-of-34 from beyond the arc for 32.4%, while UMU was 16-of-46 from the floor for 34.8% and made 4-of-17 3-pointers for 23.5%.
- ONU made 9-of-12 free throws for 75%, and UMU was 7-of-15 from the line for 46.7%.
- The Polar Bears out-rebounded the Purple Raiders by a 44-33 margin.
