DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team got back on track at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational Sunday. The Polar Bears snapped their two-game slide, cruising past Manchester (Ind.) 76-47 to improve to 7-2 on the season.
Sophomore Alissa Stahler (Lima/Shawnee) paced Northern, pouring in a career-high 13 points on 6 of 10 shooting. She nearly boasted a double-double, corralling nine rebounds.
Freshman Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) also had a career-high, tallying 12 points, which included a trio of 3-pointers. She also logged three rebounds and two assists.
The Polar Bears shot 36.4 percent (28 of 77) from the floor and 30.3 percent (10-for-33) from 3-point land. ONU dominated the Spartans on the glass, out-rebounding them 52-26.
Manchester hit 34.2 percent (13 of 38) of its field-goal attempts and 40 percent (6 of 15) of its attempts from beyond the 3-point arc. Hannah Lindsey led the Spartans with a game-high 17 points.
Northern held a 16-14 edge at the end of the first quarter before exploding for a 20-point second quarter that gave it a 36-20 halftime lead. The Polar Bears logged another impressive quarter, scoring 23 points in the third, to go ahead 59-35.
