Strong second half lifts #15 Women's Basketball to 65-46 victory at Baldwin Wallace

BEREA — The No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team used a strong second half performance to post a 64-45 victory at Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday night at Ursprung Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears improve to 18-2 overall and stay on top of the Ohio Athletic Conference with a 12-1 league record, while the Yellow Jackets fall to 12-8, 8-5.
Senior Amy Bullimore (Morrow/Little Miami) scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds, senior Lindsey Black (Urbana/Graham) had 11 points and senior Jenna Dirksen (Beavercreek/Carroll) chipped in 10 points for Ohio Northern.
Baldwin Wallace was led by Riley Schill with 10 points.
Leading 29-26 at intermission, ONU opened the second half on a 12-0 run, holding BW scoreless for 5:33, to take a 41-26 lead.
A basket by sophomore Abbey Weeks (West Chester/Mount Notre Dame) gave ONU a 52-35 lead after three quarters and two free throws by Black 39 seconds into the fourth extended the lead to 54-35.
The lead would bounce between 16 and 21 points the rest of the way.
Ohio Northern made 27-of-59 field goal attempts for 45.8 percent and was 2-for-9 from 3-point range for 22.2 percent, while Baldwin Wallace was just 17-of-46 from the floor for 37.0 percent and made only 3-of-17 3-pointers for 17.6 percent.
ONU out-rebounded BW 35-28 led by Bullimore's game-high nine boards.
The Polar Bears will return home on Saturday for a 3 pm contest with Muskingum at the ONU Sports Center.
