No. 20 Women's Basketball wins fifth straight with 78-49 victory over Ohio Wesleyan

ADA — Junior Lindsey Black (Urbana/Graham) scored 10 points and added a game-high five assists and a team-best five rebounds as the No. 23-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball won its fifth straight contest with a 78-49 victory over Ohio Wesleyan.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-0 overall, while the Battling Bishops fall to 2-3.

Junior Courtney Cramer (Arcadia) scored a team-best and career-high 13 points, while shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from the three point line to lead Northern offensively.

Senior Britt Lauck (Lima/Shawnee) added eight points, four rebounds and four assists for Northern.

Cramer gave Northern the early advantage as she drilled a 3-pointer just under two minutes into the contest to give ONU a 3-0 lead.

After a OWU 3-pointer gave the Bishops a 13-11 lead, Northern would close the quarter out on an 8-0 run capped off by a layup from senior Amauria Campbell (Cincinnati/Summit Country Day) to take a 19-13 advantage after one quarter.

Ohio Northern used a 15-3 run capped off by a 3-pointer from Black to open the second quarter and gain a 34-16 advantage with 2:19 left in the quarter.

Black would close the half out on a personal 5-0 run to give Northern a 41-20 lead at the break.

ONU opened the 3rd quarter with back-to-back layups from senior Angela Tesny (Medina) and Cramer to push the lead to 45-20 with 8:56 remaining in the first quarter.

The Polar Bears would see their largest lead grow to 36 points in the fourth quarter as junior Cheyenne Raker (Columbus/Westerville South) took a pass from freshman Abby Weeks (Cincinnati/Mount Notre Dame) and scored with 7:16 remaining in contest.

Northern shot 32-of-66 (48.5 percent) from the field, including 6-of-21 (28.6 percent) from the three point line, while Ohio Wesleyan shot 17-of-57 (29.8 percent) from the floor, including 8-of-31 (25.8 percent) from beyond the arc.

ONU won the rebounding battle by a 47-29 margin.

The Polar Bears return to action Saturday as they open Ohio Athletic Conference play and travel to Capital to take on the Crusaders at 3 pm.
