Bullimore's double-double leads No. 14 Women's Basketball in 71-51 victory over Mount Union

ADA -- Sophomore Amy Bullimore paced the No. 14-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team as they defeated Mount Union 71-51 Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 18-3 overall and remain atop the Ohio Athletic Conference standings at 13-1, while the Purple Raiders fall to 14-6, 8-5.
The Polar Bears were led by Bullimore's game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. She also added two blocks on the afternoon.
Junior Britt Lauck added 11 points for Northern, while freshman Jenna Dirksen chipped in ten for the ONU offense.
After a slow start, the Polar Bears would explode for 12 points to start the second quarter and extend their lead to 27-12 with 3:49 remaining before the intermission.
From there Mount Union closed the first half out on a 13-3 run to pull within 30-25 at the break.
Northern would open the second half with a quick 6-0 spurt capped off by a jumper from Lauck to gain a 36-25 advantage with 7:30 remaining in the quarter.
After Mount Union scored the next four points, Northern would go on a 12-0 run keyed by five points from Dirksen to extend its lead to 48-29 with 1:33 remaining in the third period.
The Purple Raiders were able to climb within 63-51 with 2:05 left in the contest, but the Polar Bear attack proved to be to much as Northern closed the game out on an 8-0 run to seal the 71-51 victory.
ONU shot 25-of-49 (51.0 percent) from the field, including 4-of-14 (28.6 percent) from 3-point range, while Mount Union shot 19-of-59 (32.2 percent) from the field, including 7-of-25 (28.0 percent) from beyond the arc.
The Polar Bears won the rebounding battle by a 37-31 margin.
Ohio Northern will return to the court Wednesday evening as they travel to Heidelberg for a 7:30 pm tipoff.
