Sophomore Amy Bullimore leads No. 24 Women's Basketball to 58-46 victory over No. 22 Capital

ADA - The No. 24 ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team defeated the No. 22 ranked Capital Crusaders 58-46 Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears move to 6-2, 3-0 Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders fall to 6-2, 1-2.
Northern was led in the contest by sophomore Amy Bullimore with a team-high 13 points and eight rebounds.
Senior Karissa Steffas also had an impressive day chipping in nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
The Polar Bears came out strong in the first quarter opening the contest on an 8-0 run led by Bullimore.
Capital would put together a 6-0 run with 1:31 to play to pull within 14-10.
However, Northern went to work once more as layup from junior Britt Lauck would give ONU the 16-10 first quarter advantage.
The second quarter started much of the same as efficient free throw shooting from the Polar Bears would cap a 6-0 run with 4:07 to take the 24-12 advantage.
The Polar Bears would out score Capital 19-4 in the quarter to take the 35-14 halftime lead.
After falling behind 42-19 in the third quarter with 5:37 to play the Crusdaers came storming back cutting the deficit to 46-31 following a three from junior Colleen Fondessy as time expired.
Capital continued to chip at the ONU lead pulling within 46-36 with 5:39 to play but the Polar Bears never surrendered as freshman Jenna Dirksen would connect on a layup to extend the lead to 51-39.
Bullimore would shoot a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line in the final :45 of play to propel Northern to the 58-46 victory.
Capital was led in the contest by senior Jenna Erwin with a game-high 18 points.
Northern returns to action Saturday as they travel to Muskingum, tip-off set for 3 pm.
