No.15 Women's Basketball falls to Rochester (N.Y.) 75-62 in the Championship game of the Chuck Resler Tournament

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The no. 15 Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell to Rochester (N.Y.) 75-62 Saturday evening in the Championship game of the Chuck Resler Tournament at the Louis Alexander Palestra.
Ohio Northern falls to 1-1, while Rochester improves to 3-0.
Northern was led in the contest by junior Britt Lauck who tied a career high 16 points.
Lauck and freshman Amy Bullimore earned All-Tournament team honors.
Northern forced 18 turnovers in the contest, while grabbing 13 steals.
After falling behind 15-6 in the first quarter the Polar Bear offense was able to string together a 6-0 run to pull within 15-12 with 1:37 remaining.
In the second quarter, junior Angela Tesny would lead a Polar Bear 5-0 run with 8:03 to play before the break to cut the Jackets lead to 25-19.
The Jackets would follow it up with a run of their own to extend the lead to 33-19 with 4:36 remaining.
Northern would enter the break trailing 40-24, after shooting just 28 percent from the field.
Freshman Jenna Dirksen looked to get something going for ONU as she hit a three with 6:36 remaining in the third to pull ONU within 46-32.
Rochester held strong taking the 58-45 third quarter advantage.
Northern would rally in the fourth quarter but the Jackets continued its hot shooting to hang on for the 75-62 victory.
The Jackets were led in the contest by Lauren Deming with a game-high 18 points.
The Polar Bears return to action Tuesday when they travel to Defiance for a double header with the men, tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
