Carly Thomas leads Women's basketball in 63-49 loss at #19 John Carroll

ADA — Junior Carly Thomas scored 10 points to lead the Ohio Northern women's basketball team in a 63-49 loss at No. 19-ranked John Carroll on Saturday at the DeCarlo Center.
The Polar Bears fall to 14-5 overall, while the Blue Streaks improve to 17-2 overall.
ONU and JCU are now in the 3-way tie with Baldwin Wallace for first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with 10-2 records.
Kaitlyn Spahar led John Carroll with a game-high 27 points.
JCU jumped to a quick 12-2 lead 5:44 into the contest.
Northern pulled within 12-9 on a free throw by senior Kerri Beedy, but the hosts would take control of the game with an 18-0 run to go up 30-9 with 6:15 left in the game.
ONU went on an 18-4 run to pull within 34-27 with 18:39 left in the game, and trailed just 36-30 with 16:05 to go after a 3-pointer by sophomore Britt Lauck.
But the Blue Streaks would go on a 9-0 run to regain a 52-34 lead with 8:41 to play and would go on to the win.
Ohio Northern made 18-of-54 field goals for 33.3 percent, while John Carroll made 24-of-58 field goals for 41.4 percent.
JCU out-rebounded ONU 41-36.
The Polar Bears will return home on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm contest against Wilmington at the ONU Sports Center.
