Late run, led by sophomore Britt Lauck, leads to a Women's Basketball 61-45 victory over Heidelberg

TIFFIN — A late run leads to a Ohio Northern 61-45 victory Wednesday evening over Heidelberg at the Seiberling Gymnasium.
Ohio Northern improves to 12-4 overall, 8-1 Ohio Athletic Conference, while Heidelberg falls to 7-9, 5-4.
Ohio Northern used a second half 9-0 run led by sophomore Britt Lauck to seal the victory.
Lauck netted six of the nine points, and finished the contest with a team-high 13 points.
Senior Jordan Kimes picked up her fifth double double of the season, scoring a team-high 13 points and grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Polar Bears trailed by as much as six in the first half, but a 7-0 run led by junior Brooke Espenschied was able to give ONU the 16-15 advantage with just over ten minutes to play.
As time expired in the first half junior Precious Ramsey was able to capitalize on a fast break opprotunity that gave ONU the 25-22 lead.
Ohio Northern carried the momentum into the second half as Lauck was able to score five straight points and extend the Polar Bears lead to 39-28 with just over 13 minutes to play.
Heidelberg responded with a 6-0 run of its own to pull within 40-41 with just over eight to play.
A free-throw and a layup from Kimes sealed the deal as the Polar Bears pushed its lead back to 52-43, all part of the 9-0 run.
Ohio Northern out rebounded Heidelberg in the contest 45-34.
The Polar Bears are next in action Saturday as the host Capital at 3 pm.
