Jordan Kimes leads Women's Basketball to 69-60 victory at Marietta

MARIETTA — Senior Jordan Kimes led the Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 69-60 victory over Marietta College, Saturday afternoon at Fenton Court.
The Polar Bears improve their record to 10-3 on the year and stay perfect in Ohio Athletic Conference play at 6-0. The Pioneers fall to 6-7, 1-5.
Kimes scored a game-high 14 points on the afternoon and pulled down six rebounds.
Freshman Amy Bullimore was a spark off of the bench, adding 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocks on the afternoon.
Sierra Sigman led the way for Marietta with 12 points.
After a jumper by Marietta knotted the score at 22-22 with 5:23 remaining in the first half, the Polar Bears would go on an 8-0 run to gain their largest lead of the half at 30-22 with 1:08 to play in the period.
After Marietta pulled within 36-29 to start the second half, Northern would go on a quick 6-0 spurt capped off by a layup from junior Carly Thomas and extend its lead to 42-29 with 16:39 left to play.
After a free-throw from Bullimore gave ONU a 50-42 lead, Marietta went on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 52-52 with 6:53 remaining in the contest.
ONU would go on to win the game 69-60, after making 10 of their last 13 free throws.
Marietta edged Northern in the rebounding battle 39-37 on the afternoon.
ONU shot 24-of-54 (44.4 percent) from the field, while Marietta shot 24-of-62 (38.7 percent) from the field.
The Polar Bears will look to continue their winning ways as they travel to Wilmington on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm contest.
