No. 24 Women's Basketball tops Muskingum 72-46

NEW CONCORD -- Junior Jordan Kimes scored a game-high 15 points and pulled down 8 rebounds for No. 24 Ohio Northern as they defeated Muskingum 72-46 Saturday afternoon.
The Polar Bears improve their record to 17-4 overall and 10-4 in the OAC. The Muskies drop their record to 5-15, 3-11.
Kimes also pulled down eight rebounds, while shooting 6-of-10 from the field.
Freshman Britt Lauck scored a career-high 11 points, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and 2-of-2 from three point land.
Senior Cenzie Yoder added nine points and pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Muskingum was led by Mallory Taylor who scored 14 points.
The Polar Bears wasted no time jumping out to a early 16-2 lead, capped off by a lay up from sophomore Karissa Steffas, with 14:52 remaining in the first half.
A 3-pointer from Lauck gave ONU their biggest lead of the half at 37-22 with 1:00 remaining in the half.
A quick 7-2 spurt from Ohio Northern, capped off by a free throw from Steffas, would push the Polar Bear lead to 44-26 with just over 14 minutes remaining in the second half, to put the game away.
The Polar Bears shot 51 percent from the field on 27-of-53 shooting and 36.8 percent from behind the three point line on 7-of-19 shooting.
ONU also capitalized on their free throws, putting in 11-of-13 shots.
The Muskies shot 16-of-64 (25 percent) from the field and 2-of-20 (10 percent) from behind the arc.
Northern won the rebounding battle 43-31.
Ohio Northern will return to action Wednesday as they travel to Tiffin to take on Heidelberg at 7:30 pm.
