Katie Mengos and Joanna Snyder named Academic All-OAC for Women's Basketball

ADA - Juniors Katie Mengos and Joanna Snyder have been named 2012 Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference for Women's Basketball by the league's faculty athletic representatives.
Recipients must have at least a 3.25 grade point average and be a starter or key reserve for her team. She must also be in at least her second year of participation of the sport.
Both Mengos and Snyder were Academic All-OAC Honorable Mention recipients last season.
Mengos started in 26 of her 27 game appearances this past year and led the team with 86 assists and 57 steals. Those numbers put her second all-time in single-season assists and steals. Additionally, she ranks first in career assists at 224 and seventh in career steals at 134.
This season, she also averaged 5.4 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.
Snyder finished fifth on the team in scoring (9.7 ppg), fourth in rebounding (4.2 rpg) and third in assists (69). She also had the best free throw percentage of the starting rotation at 82.4 percent.
She was also named First Team Academic All-District 7 for Women's Basketball by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) membership.
The Polar Bears finished 21-6 overall and second in the OAC regular season with a 14-4 record. Northern also made its first appearance in the conference championship game since the 1988-89 season.
