Softball drops doubleheader to Baldwin Wallace

ADA — The Ohio Northern softball team dropped a doubleheader to Baldwin Wallace at Durbin-Hileman Stadium on Tuesday evening. ONU dropped the first game 3-1 and fell 9-8 in the second game.

The Basics

  • Records: Ohio Northern (7-15 Overall, 2-2 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (11-1 Overall, 4-0 OAC).

Game 1 - L, 1-3

  • Baldwin Wallace scored one run in the first inning.
  • Senior Taylor Hilty (Kettering/Fairmont) hit an RBI single to score junior Allie Wilson (Wapakoneta), tying up the game.
  • The Yellow Jackets scored two more runs in the third inning, and the game remained scoreless for the last four innings.
  • Senior Ashley Lenser (Brookville) pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.

Game 2 - L, 8-9

  • The Yellow Jackets scored two more runs in the third inning, making the score 5-1.
  • Lenser hit an RBI single in the fifth inning to score Rosser.
  • BW scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 8-2.
  • The Polar Bears rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring six runs, including a 2-RBI double from freshman Jaylee Fansler (Plainfield, Ind./Avon).
  • Baldwin Wallace scored in the top of the seventh inning and held the Polar Bears scoreless in the bottom of the inning to secure the win.
  • Lenser went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and senior Mariana Alejandro (Gibsonburg) went 2-for-3 with two runs to lead ONU offensively.
  • BW out-hit ONU 16-9.
